Khaimah, camel’s milk
from Al Ain, and Arabian Sea salts, The
Spa at Mandarin Oriental Jumeira is
shining a spotlight on the region’s bounty
of naturally nourishing ingredients.
Sara Codner, The Spa’s director, says: “I
believe it is important to deliver authentic,
indigenous treatments that reflect our

location. Our local ingredients are rich in
naturally derived vitamins and minerals,
which benefit your body, skin and hair.”
For a true taste of the UAE, Sara
suggests the Nomadic Sensory experience,
inspired by the Emirati Bedouin life.
“It’s ideal for summer as it helps with
hydration and promotes healing and skin
renewal,” says Sara. “The two-hour ritual
begins with a traditional kessa scrub and
body exfoliant made of palm sugar and

black cumin seeds. We then apply a body
mask of henna and aromatic lavender,
which is known for its healing properties,
followed by a nourishing hair mask full
of herbal plants and rhassul mud. The
treatment ends with a soothing rose
oil massage.”
