Lawrence Shakespeare Festival.
This professional outdoor theatre
fulfills a key role in the artistic
life of the region, with its
unique riverside setting
combined with the high quality
of the performances.
Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale
and Cyrano de Bergerac by
Edmond Rostand are playing

JULY 18-AUGUST 29: St.
George’s Cathedral Summer
Concert Series.The noon-hour
concert series runs every Thursday
from 12:15 to 12:50 p.m.,
featuring local and visiting
artists: Cranberry Dixie Band,
July 18; Jan LeClair (accordion),
August 1; Georgiana Stewart
and Holly Gwynne-Timothy
(vocal ensemble), August 8;
Warren Nicholson (guitar),
August 15; Cygnus Ensemble
(flute, violin, guitar), August 22;
and Colioris Ensemble (violin,
cello, piano), August 29. These
popular concerts at St. George’s
Cathedral have been going on
for over 20 years, giving working
people, locals and visitors the
opportunity to enjoy top-quality
music over the lunch hour.
Admission is free, with a
voluntary offering collected.
Come along for a midday
musical interlude. Afterwards,
you can go on a tour of the
Cathedral, which houses some
fascinating artifacts. St. George’s
Cathedral is a remarkable heritage
building with outstanding
acoustics; music has always
played an important role in this

JULY 18, AUGUST 10, 15:
Waterside Summer Series.


Celebrating its 26 seasons, these
well-attended concerts are a
perfect summer outing, bringing
together beautiful music and
the remarkable natural setting
of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church
on Amherst Island, just a half-
hour drive from downtown
Kingston. The Brazilian Guitar
Quartet, combining American
jazz, French Impressionism
and African rhythmic impulses,
perform on July 18 at 7:15 p.m.
On August 10 at 4:15 p.m.,
Gryphon Trio, one of the world’s
finest piano trios, returns to
Waterside. On August 15,
Ensemble Made in Canada,
a piano quartet of dynamic
musicians who share a passion
for chamber music, will
highlight their program with
selections from “The Mosaique
Project,” a newly commissioned
suite of engaging piano quartets
by Canadian composers. The
ferry leaves the mainland on

JULY 19-AUGUST 12: The Kick
& Push Festival. This annual
innovative performance festival
takes place across various
venues in Kingston’s downtown
core. It is a professionally run
three-week festival featuring
award-winning Canadian
performers and original,

work, from the 18 productions
of the Storefront Fringe to Out
of the Woods, A (Musical)
Midsummer Night’s Dream and
Kitchen Chicken. The Kingston
Theatre Alliance strives to offer
something for everyone and

JULY 19-27: Storefront Fringe
Festival. “Uncurated,
uncensored and unboring,” the
festival provides performance
venues in three empty
storefronts for 18 productions
from Kingston and out-of-town.
The goal is to offer accessible
theatre space for independent
artists, both local and national,

providing affordable theatre
for audiences local to or visiting

JULY 19-21. Stewart Park
Festival.One weekend. Endless
possibilities. This free outdoor
music festival in Perth, named a
top Ontario festival, is a summer
favourite. Set in the beautiful
park on the Tay River, there are
more than 30 free live concerts.
The festival features a variety
of musical styles, including folk,
funk and jazz. The weekend
includes concerts as well as
workshops, children’s activities
and an international food and
artisans market.

JULY 24, AUGUST 14, 28:
Music in the Gardens.Enjoy
free live music from 7 to 8 p.m.
at Lions Civic Gardens. Weather
permitting, this hour-long
evening series welcomes a
Medley of Music talent to make
the most of your mid-week,
featuring big band, jazz and the
classics. Bring your lawn chair
and a picnic, and park for free
at the Cataraqui Town Centre
parking lot. This series is
possible thanks to the Kingston
Musician’s Union and the Music

JULY 25-28: The Napanee
Country Jamboree.Enjoy four
days of great country music at
this jamboree at the Napanee
Fairgrounds, 170 York Street.
More than 40 local and also the
best in Canadian country music
and singer/songwriters have
been scheduled to perform. The
jamboree offers jam-packed fun
and includes open mic and open
stage, full lineup, Gospel show
and much more. All weekend
rough camping or day passes
are available. Performers include
