Take a walk through time with a
visit to the Map and Atlas Museum
of La Jolla. The collection features
a display of more than 200 items
(including some of the rarest maps in
the world) that showcase 500 years of
cartography. Plus, it’s free!

Head to San Diego, where you can
hop on a ferry ($10 per person) to
the quaint island of Coronado. Once
there, relax on the 2-mile Coronado
Beach, catch a show at Village Theater
and discover local culture at the
Coronado Museum of History &
Art. You can also explore the shops
on Orange Avenue and grab a bite of
Coronado’s famous fresh lobster.

After you return to shore, head
to the Birch Aquarium at Scripps
Institution of Oceanography ($19.50
per adult, $15 per child) to explore
more than 60 marine habitats and

thing was sitting in the kelp forest
area watching t he huge eels,” says

“There was also a giant sea bass in
there that was appropriately named

Girard Avenue and Prospect Street
