(Nandana) #1
Berlin, Germany—The sweltering
heat of summer can’t keep this seal
down. The silly marine animal was
seen happily bathing in the pond
in his enclosure at Zoo Berlin on
a particularly balmy day. In fact,
he enjoyed the soak so much, he
couldn’t hide the satisfied smile
on his face! Seals usually only dive
for three to seven minutes at a
time in shallow waters, but they’re
capable of staying submerged for
as long as 30 minutes. And by the
looks of it, this sweetheart wasn’t
in any rush to head back to dr y land.

Gengda, China—Play nice,
little ones! These fuzzy
panda bear cubs at Wolong
Giant Panda Reserve were
feeling rather spunky one
afternoon while waiting
for lunch to be served, so
they decided to engage in
a friendly wrestling match.
The two could be seen
climbing on rocks and rolling
around in the grass together,
much to the delight of all
who came to watch.

Karlsruhe, Germany—
Visitors to Karlsruhe
Zoo won’t see any signs
of sibling rivalry in this
meerkat family: These
4-week-old pups are
like two peas in a pod!
Ever since the tiny duo
emerged from their
underground burrow,
they’ve been completely
inseparable, and the
pups especially love to
give each other hugs!
