It’s such a relief to feel the breeze on
our toes in open-air sandals dur-
ing a heat wave. It’s too bad that it
doesn’t keep the bottoms of our feet
from getting sweaty and turning
soles into a soggy mess. Not only
can it cause you to slide out of your
shoes and trip, it’s also a recipe for
painful blisters. The simple save,
according to fashion stylist Anna
Katsanis, who has worked with
A-listers like Zoe Saldana and
Sarah Paulson: Grab a panty liner
and stick it to the shoes’ insoles.
“Because they’re absorbent, the lin-
ers soak up any sweat that accumu-
lates throughout the day, helping
feet stay comfortable and dry inside
shoes.” Katsanis suggests opting for
slim-sized liners. “They’re easily
masked under feet so it’ll be your
own little secret!”

Sidestep slippery feet


Summer’s linens, cottons and
cha mbray pieces keep us cool,
but the lightweight fabrics are
prone to wrinkling. To “iron”
out creases on the go, Katsanis
uses a wrinkle-releasing spray
containing hair conditioner and
white vinegar. The conditioner’s
softening agents work with vin-
egar’s smoothing acetic acid to
relax stiff fabric fibers, releasing
wrinkles in no time.
TO DO:In a spray bottle, mix

(^1) ⁄ 4 cup of warm water, (^1) ⁄ 4 tsp. of
hair conditioner,^1 ⁄ 2 Tbs. of white
vinegar and 3 drops of ylang-
ylang essential oil (for a light f lo-
ral scent). Shake, mist onto fabric
(d a mpen, don’t soa k), t hen gen-
tly tug on creases to smooth. Let
dry for 5 minutes. Note: Avoid
use on silk (it can stain), and
since vinegar can break down
fabric fibers over time, limit use
on the same item to twice a week.
