This month, f lorists are styling
f luffy fuchsia garden blooms in
cool-hued vases to create beautiful
bouquets that pop. “Here, delicate
gaura, garden roses and phlox in a
range of pinks mingle for a lovely yet
laid-back summer look,” says f loral
designer Gabriele DeFrances. “And
the cool-blue vase nicely contrasts
with the plush rosy-colored blos-
soms. It’s the perfect display for a
patio party or girls’ get-together!”
In t his mi xed garden bouquet, t he
roses may be the first blooms to
fade. To perk up droopy f lowers,
try this easy pro-approved trick:
Fi l l a sink w it h warm water, t hen
re-snip each wilted stem while
holding it underwater (to prevent
water-blocking air bubbles from
forming). Next, submerge the
blooms (including stems and foli-
age) in water for 10 minutes and
voilà—fully revived roses!
Fill a 5"-tall blue vase with water.
Snip six pink garden roses and six
stems of phlox to 6"–8". Arrange
phlox stems in the vase first, form-
ing a rounded mound. Then insert
roses between phlox clusters. Next,
snip six gaura stems to 12" and tuck
them in throughout to fill in any
gaps and add interest. For extra
f lair, center the bouquet on a tray
between two water-filled cups of
seasonal blooms.
