Hamsters

live in tunnels

that they dig

under the

ground.

In the summer and fall,

the black-bellied

hamster is very busy.

It must gather enough

food to last all winter.

Every night the hamster

searches for food. It

sniffs for seeds in the

grass. It digs for roots

along the river.
