omething didn’t seem right.

After months of giddy outings

with fiancé Chris Pratt, a

downcast Katherine

Schwarzenegger cut a solemn

figure as she pounded the Beverly Hills

pavement solo on May 29. The normally

bubbly bride-to-be was seemingly on a

frantic search for a dose of retail therapy

— and it didn’t look like she was ticking

items off her wedding checklist.

Now there’s growing buzz that her big

day is on hold. “Chris and Katherine

have called off their engagement, at least

for the time being,” a source tells OK!. “It

wasn’t an easy decision, but they both

realized they aren’t ready.”

WHAT WENT WRONG?

Word of Chris and Katherine’s change

of heart is shocking for those close to the

couple. Though their engagement this

January came after just seven months of

dating, the goofy Hollywood heartthrob,

39, and the animal-loving author, 29,

seemed like the perfect match.

Katherine quickly bonded with Chris’

son, Jack, 6, (whose mom is ex-wife

Anna Faris); and of course, there was

So just how did their romance

manage to sour? According to the

source, as the big day drew closer, the

couple began butting heads and

bickering over the slightest things.

Katherine also noticed that Chris was

“acting noncommittal,” says the source.

“He was spending more time with his

friends and dressing sloppily, even for

her family get-togethers.” Fed up,

Katherine asked him point-blank if

he was getting cold feet. “He said he

wasn’t, but she didn’t buy it,”

continues the source. “She figured the

best thing was to take a step back, and

he agreed.”

TAKING A TIME-OUT

Although Katherine’s brokenhearted

by the decision, she’s been

getting plenty of support

from her famous

family. “She’s

extremely close to

her parents [Maria

Shriver and Arnold

Schwarzenegger] ,”

notes the source, adding

that they’d been “very involved” in the

wedding planning. “Maria and Arnold

are crushed, but they’re still rooting

for them.”

Despite hitting pause on the nups,

the pair haven’t broken up. “They love

each other,” says the source, “but

Katherine doesn’t like feeling as

though she’s pulling all the weight.

Chris had better step it up if he wants

her to stick around.”
