CUTTING
Cut across width of fabric
- From each of five light prints cut:
one, 6½" square,
eight, 2½" x 6½" strips. - From remaining four light prints each cut:
two, 2½" x 18½" strips,
two, 2½" x 14½" strips,
two, 2½" x 10½" strips,
two, 2½" x 6½" strips. - From each dark grey and black print cut:
four, 2½" x 6½" strips. - From dark grey and one black print cut:
four, 2½" x 14½" strips,
four, 2½" x 10½" strips. - From cream cut:
six, 2½" strips – border. - From grey cut:
six, 2½" strips – binding.
PIECING
Use ¼" seam allowance throughout
Block A
1a. From remainder of dark prints cut
one, 2½" strip from two different prints.
b. Cut one, 2½" strip from one leftover
light print.
2a. Join dark strips to opposite sides
of light strip along their length. Don’t
worry if strips are all different lengths,
illust. 1a.
b. Press seams towards dark strips.
c. Cross cut joined strips into 2½" cross
cut slices, illust. 1b.
- Repeat with different prints to make
total of eight, cross cut slices.
4a. From remainder of light prints cut
two, 2½" strips from different prints
and cut one, 2½" strip from dark prints.
b. Join light strips to opposite sides of
dark strip in similar manner.
c. Press seams towards dark strip. - Cross cut joined strips into 2½" cross
cut slices.
When pressing seams, don't use
water in your iron until right at
the end, as steam will stretch and
distort the weave of the fabric.
