CUTTING



  1. From assorted fabrics cut total of:
    twelve, 2½" x 3½" rectangles.

  2. From Daffodil Bloom cut:
    one, 12½" x 51½" rectangle.


ENGLISH PAPER PIECING
1a. Trace hexagon template given full
size on Pattern Sheet forty two times on
thick paper.
b. Alternately, use pre-cut hexagon papers.

2a. Choose one print for hexie flower
centres. Chris used the Eucalyptus
Pennant print. Place six paper hexagons
on wrong side of fabric and cut out six
hexagons adding approx. ¼" on each
side.
b. Choose three red prints; Chris used
Crimson Bouquet, Cherry Vee and Sweet
Potato Pyramid, and make six fabric
hexagons from each print in similar
manner for each hexie flower.

c. You will need two hexie flowers in
each fabric.


  1. Baste each fabric hexagon over paper
    pieces by tacking or glue basting.
    4a. Take two hexagons and place right
    sides together. Using tight whip stitch,
    join hexagons together along one edge.
    b. Continue adding and joining
    hexagons until hexie flower is complete.

  2. Repeat to make six hexie flowers
    in total.

a. Appliqué hexie fl owers with buttonhole or zigzag stitch

b. Cut out background fabric leaving ¼" seam allowance

c. Remove papers

a. Stitch around leaf outlines

b. Stitch along centre of each leaf
