rom August 30 through September 1, Long’s Park in
Lancaster, Pennsylvania, will transform into a tree-lined
outdoor art gallery featuring more than 200 juried artists from
across the country for the 41st annual Long’s Park Art Festival.
Among the featured categories are digital art, drawing, wear-
able fi ber, decorative fi ber, furniture, glass, jewelry, leather, metal,
mixed media, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture and
wood—all of which are available for collectors to shop. Two new
categories have also been introduced for the 2019 festival: “func-
tional art” and “upcycled/creative reuse items.”
“We hope these new categories will be of interest to younger
festival attendees. These artists o‰ er work that can be held and
experienced at home on a daily basis,” festival artistic director
Rick Faulkner says, adding, “This is work that is not just collected,
but used and enjoyed for a lifetime.”
One featured artist, Phill Singer, will display his newest surreal
oil paintings as well as limited edition prints.
“The park always provides a relaxed setting to show my paint-
ings,” he says. “Very few shows take care of the artists as well as
Long’s Park Art Festival does. It should be a destination for any
art lover within the area.”
In addition to celebrating art, Long’s Park Art Festival also
supports it, with all proceeds from ticket sales benefi tting the
Long’s Park Amphitheater Foundation—a nonprofi t organization
dedicated to enriching Lancaster through art and music—and the
foundation’s Summer Music Series, which features over a dozen
summer concerts that are free to the public.
Other Labor Day weekend festivities at the park include live
music throughout the event and craft beer, food and wine from
local restaurants.
