C

heck out these
fantastic snaps of
Joanne Froggatt
filming scenes for
the much-awaited second series
of ITV drama Liar.
Joanne, sporting a teal coat,
grey jumper and dark blue
skinny jeans, was joined by a
large group of crew members in
the Kent seaside town of Deal.
The first season of the thriller
was a huge hit in 2017, with more
than nine million viewers tuning
in to the finale. It saw Joanne’s
character, teacher Laura Nielson,
accuse surgeon Andrew Earlham
(Ioan Gruffudd) of sexual
assault, which he denied.
Andrew was eventually
revealed as the liar and went
on the run but, weeks later, the
devious medic’s lifeless body
was last seen lying on the Kent
marshes – so who killed him?
The new series is set to reveal
the answer and explore what
happened in the intervening
period, as Ioan is back, too.

‘It was
an exciting
cliffhanger that
everyone loved
and the second
season picks up
directly after the
last episode,’ Harry
Williams, who co-writes
the drama with brother
Jack, exclusively told TV Times
earlier this year.
Excitingly, the new episodes
also see Katherine Kelly (Gentleman
Jack, Cheat, Coronation Street)
join the cast as Detective
Inspector Karen Renton who,
along with DS Rory Maxwell
(returning star Danny Webb),
is tasked with uncovering clues
about Andrew’s past and
unpacking the events of the
three crucial weeks leading
up to his murder.
Other new cast members
include Joanne’s former
Downton Abbey colleague Amy
Nuttall and Howard Charles
(The Musketeers, The Widow).
