ursing drama Where the Heart Is had
been airing on ITV for three years when
Leslie Ash joined the cast following the
exit of stars Sarah Lancashire and Pam Ferris.
Leslie played nurse Karen Buckley, who took
over at the Skelthwaite Health Centre in Yorkshire.
For Leslie, then best known for starring as
Deborah in sitcom Men Behaving Badly, the
drama brought a welcome change of character.
‘I’m pleased Karen is a woman in her 40s
and a mother,’ she told us. ‘For me, it’s saying
goodbye to all those bit-of-skirt parts.’
