JULY 2019/MUSCLE & FITNESS 77
AFTER
I knew work and my stage prep was
going to be challenging as I had spent
the last ten years working demanding
hospital shifts. It took me a little getting
used to but I finally figured out a way
to manage my nutrition and training
schedule while still making progress
week-to-week. Christina gave me
techniques to use like always keeping
a low-carb tortilla in a Ziploc in my work
bag for the late-night cravings at 2am
I often have. It also took the support of
my work staff as we habitually had
potluck dinners full of dips and sweet
treats, but everyone was on board with
my strict nutrition plan.
I could not imagine accomplishing my
goals without the support of my family.
All three of my kids were so incredibly
supportive throughout my my stage prep.
They even became slightly obsessed
with my abs, especially my two boys.
Often, they would mimic my ab workouts
and they even took part in some posing
practice at home. I simply wanted to look
stage-ready, but I didn’t think I would
ever actually be ready to hop on stage.
It wasn’t until someone with such
experience on stage like Christina
encouraged me to compete, that I felt
confident enough to give it a try. I had
this goal tucked away somewhere in my
bucket list, but never thought I would
cross this one off. I think my family were
most excited about the trophy I took
home, they thought it was so cool and
they were extremely proud of me. I am
now in the best shape of my life and
continue to live a healthier lifestyle.

fresh air. This is where my passion for health and

others; it makes what I do for a living rewarding.
I love sharing my passion for health and wellness
