hen I first heard of Tasty Bite
yearsago,I was drivingaround
SouthernCaliforniawithfellowadventurer
Sinuhe Xavier going from store to store
lookingfortheseelusivedelicacies—highly
recommendedbyhimastheperfectcamp
meal.We finally found them,and Sinuhe
wasright.
As a company, Tasty Bite has been
aroundfor 25 yearsmakingeasy-to-prepare,
flavorful,andall-naturalIndianfoodmade
inIndia.Theirentréesrangefromcoconut
vegetables inyogurttobagsofbrownrice
and lentils.We chose the vegetable tikka
masalaandbasmatirice,a perfectpairingof
gluten-free,vegetarian,kosher,non-GMO
goodness.
These are shelf-stable meals, not de-
hydratedor freeze-driedsotheycanstore
forapproximately 18 monthsinmoderate
temperatures.Theydonothavetoberefrig-
eratedbecausetheyarepreparedsimilarto
canninginretortpouches,andthecontents
donotneedtobecooked,onlyreheatedfor
palatability—they canevenbeeaten right
out of the package without heating in a
