personalflair.Basilfoundit intheformofa Laguntablemount
witha custom,live-edgewoodtop,whichswivelsaroundtogive
himmorelivingspaceorworkspacedependingonhisneeds.He
thenaddeda WeBoostDrive4-GXcellphoneboosterwitha
largerantenna,whichpullsdownanycellservicein theareaand
amplifiesit insidethecamper.Thisprovidestheabilitytosend
orreceiveemails,andoftenbrowsethewebinplaceswherehe
couldn’thaveevengottena calloutpreviously.It’sa goodthing,
too,becauseBasilandBruceseeplentyof remotedestinations.
“Inthelastyearanda half,I’veexploredover35,000milesof
NorthAmerica.I’vebeentothePacificNorthwest,Bajatwice,
EasternCanada,theDesertSouthwest,theNortheast,andspent
a fewmonthsbackin SanDiego.Next,I planto makea trekback
uptoAlaska,then drive south into Central and hopefully, South

perspective.Thingsthatonceseemedsoimportantbecomelessso,
andsmallfacetsofyourlifeyoutookforgrantedallofa sudden
becomecentraltoyourhappiness.I experiencedthisduringmy
firstyearof travel,andsowitha yearanda halfof lifeontheroad
underhisbelt,I wascuriousif Basil’sdayto dayin thecamperwas
livinguptohisexpectations.
“It’sfunny,mylifeusedtofeellikeit revolvedaroundthe
mundanethingsI didn’treallycareabout.InSanDiego,youcan
getintoanendlesscycleofworkandtrafficjusttosqueezeina
littlebitofthethingsyoulove,butnowmylifemostlyrevolves
aroundthosepassions.I stillhavetoputinthehourstopaythe
bills,butwhen5 o’clockrollsaround,I’mopeningmydoorto
surfing,photography,andtravel.Livingin thecamperallowsme
to chasewavesandwarmerweatherin nearlylimitlesslocations.I
canreachremotewavesthatfewpeoplewilleverexperience,and
seesightsina yearthatmanypeoplewon’twitnessina lifetime.
I havethefreedomtoworkandlivelife on my terms, and that’s
what traveling in Bruce is all about.”The best part of travelingfull time is that I alwayshave
