freshsteelsectionsweldedinwhereneeded.

Acompletenewpanelwasmadetoformtherearof

thebed,housingthefrenchedfuelfillerhousing.

Lastmonthwe

mentionedthe

rearaxlehad

beenremoved

tofinishweld

the4-bar

brackets...

Wealso

mentionedthe

cabhadbeen

painted.Well,

nowit’sbeen

clearcoated...

...yup,that’lldonicely.Verynicelyindeed.

Added Finesse

hismonthhasbeenveryupand

downfortheOldBonesteam,both

physicallyandemotionally.During

ameetingwithJamesandtheAuto

Finesseguysinthepaintshop,OldBones

expressedconcernsaboutthecustommixed

pastelcolour.Whenpolishedheavilyina

certainarea,thedifferentcolourpigmentsin

thepaintwereshowinginrings.

Asthetruckwillprobablyendupbeing

polishedfivedaysaweek,thedecisionwas

takentousethesolidcolourasabaseand

addaclearlacqueroverthetop.

Withthecabsorted,thepick-upbedwas

nextontheagenda.Thefirstprioritywas

buildingthehingedframe,whichproved

oneofthemostchallengingjobsonthe

projectyet.Onlythencouldthebedbe

repairedandstraightenedoutbygoodold

fashionedpanelbeating.Finally,allthejoins

wereseamweldedforatidierfinish.

Fuelandbrakelineswereplumbedin

next,thelatterfromaCPPunder-floor

brakeboostertoWilwoodfrontcalipers.

Therearaxlewasstripped,shotblasted,

weldedonthefab'benchandfinally

thetruck will

probablyend up

beingpolished five

superchargerhaveledtheteamtothe

conclusionthatEdelbrockactuallyhates

them.Afterinitiallysendingthewrongparts,

thereplacementbeltdrivethatarrivedwas

alsowrong,andonthethirdattemptitwas

discoveredsomeofthecomponentswere

missingfromthebox.Sufficetosay,it’san

ongoingsituation.

Onamorepositivenote,thestainless

exhaustsystemhasbeenfabricatedandtack

weldedandisnowatthepolishersbefore

beingfullypurgewelded.

Junetocompletethetruck,buthavenow

beengivenanextramonthduetoadditional

workbeingspecified.Theteamarenow
