I'd just like to say a sincere
'Thank You' so very much
for featuring my father
Charlie's Mini K in the Spring
edition of MiniWorld. To say
he was overwhelmed is a
complete understatement
and he became quite
emotional over the phone when he noticed his late
wife's (my mother's) name, Colleen, also included within
the editorial. The timing of the feature just before
Mother's Day was a lovely surprise for us both.
Well, some people may say 'It's only a car', however
when you have put both your heart and soul into building
one and driving it for the fi rst time, I guess they will never
understand that feeling! This Mini is extra special!
I thank you again for being able to fulfi ll a lifelong
dream of my father's in having his car featured within
MiniWorld, you've made a man so eternally proud.

This being the Mini's 60th anniversary, I took a photo a while
back of a refl ection of a poster of Alec Issigonis in a Mini
window at the Earls Court Motor Show display at Goodwood.

Boredom relief
I saw an article in a local magazine which gave me an idea
for a le er to the editor! There was an article on Facebook
which has been identifi ed as the source of these words. I
think it is particularly relevant to the 60th Anniversary of
the Mini and I thought that I would put my own slant on it:
In August 1959 when an overseas judge, who
regularly dealt with youths a empting to give an
explanation for a misdemeanour, came up with a list
of things to do to relieve the boredom, perhaps he
declared: "Go home, study the Haynes Mini manual
and when you’ve fi nished re-building the car to your
specifi cation, a er buying parts at the local auto-
factor, you will have achieved something. Get the
wheels in line and enjoy." Happy 60th Birthday Mini!
