front carpet, even though I love the

smell as it adds to the car’s character,

to dry the scraps out. I’m still working

on that. As an alternative I’ve used

some sound-deadening cloth which

Shaun, at Newton Commercial,

kindly supplied. Using the carpet as

a template this was easy to shape.

One frustrating part I have replaced

on STElf several times over the years

is the gear lever gaiter. As you can

see from the pictures the old one had

disintegrated, allowing fumes into

the car. Somerford Mini posted me

out a replacement just in time for our

trip, which was much appreciated.

Ever since I’ve owned STElf his Tex

door mirrors, with which he came to

me, have always rattled. It’s been part

Out and about, at St Mawes, after
the close encounter with the Audi.

Using the well-fitted carpet in the front footwells as a template, I cut out some fabric sound deadening
which was supplied by Newton Commercial. It doesn't smell like a wet dog though, which is a shame!

STElf’s Tex door
mirrors had rattled
for years and it was
so simple to fix!

Not only was there
play top and bottom
but left to right too.
