Bodywork repairs
Popsie was not so much a Rover Mini, more of a
Rustin' Seven! Her bodywork needed some a ention.
I
have owned Minis on and o since
1971 but it took a gap of over two
decades after selling my Harvest
Gold Mini 1000 before I came across
my present one sitting on the forecourt
of John Cooper Garages at Ferring. That
was back in 2000 and it caught my eye
as I drove past. I had found a nice little
1.3i in red and white which was very
much the bargain basement of their
used range. I made up my mind to buy
her and she has proved to be a very
reliable little workhorse ever since.
Like so many Minis she was originally
my daily driver but as time went by she
became more of a toy and her annual
mileage dropped considerably. My
wife Emilia and I, over the years, have
had many adventures in the Mini,
including touring much of Europe
while travelling to Intenational Mini
Meetings as well as making other jaunts.
You may have seen articles in previous
editions of MiniWorld recounting
our exploits in France and Spain. We
have also been to Italy, Switzerland,
Belgium, Luxembourg and Holland.
Originally we called the car Mini the
Minx but In 2003 we visited the Möhne
Dam in Germany to commemorate
the 60th anniversary of the famous
Dambusters raid. That is where the
Popsie
