One area that hasn’t needed any
attention is the chunky Rover Sports
Pack alloy wheels. “I think they've never
been touched but I want to get them
done at some point. There are other
things we want to do to the Mini, like
the carpet which is still original, but you
can’t buy those carpets anymore, not
in one fully-moulded piece,” says Steve.
Now there is a gap in the market!
The interior has remained standard
with a few exceptions such as the
dashboard, which has been painted
black, and the side vents converted to
speaker mounts for some small Vibe
coaxial speakers. ”It gets so hot in there,”
comments Libby. The pod around the
Rover 3-clock gauges is still wood veneer
though. “That’s my bit of original,” she
continues. The alloy door furniture was an
eBay find. “Purple is another colour I have
on my cars and I wanted purple handles.”
Then there is the small matter of
the Honda conversion which, most
importantly, is retained in a non-
extended, round-nose front end,
keeping the car’s original proportions.
