Himley Hall
T
his fantastic Mini show is held
annually within the scenic
grounds of Himley Hall, near
Dudley. This year’s event took
place on 12 May and the weather was
kind to organisers, British Mini Club.
Once the grounds were fi lled with
Minis it was all set to be a perfect day
out for Mini fans. There was a good
turnout of Minis and their owners
and many took part in the popular
show ‘n’ shine and concours contests.
Others were there to buy parts from
the assembled Mini traders, including
show sponsor Mini Sport, for projects
hidden away in garages. Himley is
always jam-packed with traders.
In the background, Sam Doyle
performed songs with his acoustic
guitar and set a really nice atmosphere
for all in attendance on the day. Dirk
McLean’s extensively rebuilt, and
modifi ed, Clubman Estate was revealed
to an assembled crowd. It had been
in an accident and was rejuvenated
in a gorgeous Porsche Mexico Blue.
The Mini is an estate body sat on top
of a Mazda MX5 chassis and running
gear and is really quite impressive!
Dave Rippard’s stunning 1959 Mini
was the favourite choice among the
judges so he won Best in Show. His Mini
will now be on display in the concours
fi nals in January at Mini Fair 2020.
