really excited. I wanted to give them the
exact colour. I don’t know if we’ll ever
get our money back but I just wanted to
get it right. I’m never going to be able to
say it’s 100 per cent but this is close.”
It’s impressive to see the lengths to
which Jonny has gone to improve the
fabrics. “We’ve nailed the Grey Fleck
as well with this new version. It looks
awesome. The old material we had
wasn’t as dark as this. We now have it
like the original and can weld it to the
original specifi cation. This is a smaller
market but we are investing in it as it will
give us original products for the next
however many years. People like this
for a retro look too and they will put it
on our Su olk seats. We’ve made new
tooling recently for Mini sun visor clips,
as it started to wear out, so we reinvested
even though we sell them for pennies.”
It’s safe to say that Vera and Richard’s
legacy will continue. “There are about 10
people with us that have been here over
25 years so there’s a good knowledge
base. We have also got a younger crew
coming through now and we are looking
further ahead too. Our future looks really
bright and we’ll continue to invest in
the classic Mini market as well as other
small classic car markets who want to fi t
safe, modern, yet traditional, trim.”
