MonteCarloforroundnineoftheABBFIA
FormulaEChampionship–thethirdE-Prix
atthehistoricvenue.MitchEvansfinished
sixth,whileteammateAlexLynnclaimed
hisfirstpointsfortheteam,finishing
eighth.
Mitchshowedoffthespeedofthe
JaguarI-TYPE3bymakingitthroughto
SuperPole,wherehesetthethirdfastest
time.However,hewaslaterhandedaten-
placegridpenaltyasaresultofselecting
the250kWqualifyingmodeapproximately
0.4secondspriortothebeginningofthe
lastsector.Thisminornon-performance
infringementruledtheJaguardriveroutof
hissecondfront-rowstartthisseason.
Evanslinedup 12 thonthegridon
aracetracknotoriouslydifficultfor
overtaking.Hemanagedhisenergyand
seizedhischanceswithsomedecisive
overtakingtogainfiveplacesandfinish
sixth.Evanshasfinishedeveryracethis
seasonandscoredinallbutone.
SaidEvansaftertherace,“ObviouslyI’ll
alwaysbethinkingaboutwhatcouldhave
been.Itcouldhavebeenadifferentresult


ifIhadstartedP2,whichiswhereIwould
havebeen.Itwasasmallmistakewithbig
consequences.Ithinkwerecoveredwell
fromwherewestarted,whichisgood,and
wedefinitelyhadoneofthefastestracecars
today.We’lldefinitelybetakingthat
qualifyingpacewithustoBerlin.”
Meanwhile,BritAlexLynnproduced
hisbestqualifyingperformancetostart
seventh.Hehadacleanstart,butwas
hamperedbycontactwithRobinFrijns
thatdamagedthebodyworkoftheI-TYPE
3.However,withwell-executedenergy
managementandpatience,heeventually
finishedineighthtotakehisfirstpointsin
onlyhisthirdoutingfortheteam.

concretetrack,renownedforbeing
toughonbrakesandtyres.
Aftershowingimpressivespeed
andcompetinginhisfirst-ever
SuperPoleforPanasonicJaguar
Racing,AlexLynnqualifiedfifth
andwassettoearnstrongpoints
beforeatechnicalissueforcedhim
toretireinsixth.
AlthoughMitchEvanshad
previouslytoppedthetimesheets,
hehadtocontendwitharace-long
midfieldbattleafterqualifying 18 th.
Whilehehascontinuedhisform
forcompletingeveryraceofthe
season,hemissedoutonapoint
finish,in12th.
“Thiswasn’ttheresultwe
wanted,”saidracingteamdirector,
JamesBarclay.“Therearesuchfine
marginsinFormulaEandwesaw
thatthisweekend.Weneedtogo
awaytogettotherouteofthe
problemthatAlexhadwithhiscar
intheraceandwhatcausedthe
difficultiesMitchhadinqualifying.
