Jenga anyone?
Things just didn’t stack up for the
North West Motorway Police
(@NWmwaypolice), who stopped this
Iveco Daily after it was spotted
shifting a teetering load of pallets.
“One of our regular patrols is
covering division today, but he wasn’t
letting this one go after stopping it at
J25 on the M60,” the force tweeted.
“Driver dealt with for load offences,”
it added. Yeah, no kidding!

Charity work
Thumbs up to the folk at Alan R Jones
& Sons (@AlanRJones1), who are
showing support for charity with help
from their Renault Range T460.
“Outstanding looking truck supporting
the Dalmatian Bike Ride again this
year on behalf of St David’s Hospice,”
it tweeted. “The charity has raised
over £250k in eight years and we are
very proud to support them.”

Good deed done

It’s always good to see the Knights of
the Road doing their thing – and this
video, originally posted to HGV Dash
Cam Footage (and shared by us), is
testament to truck drivers going above
and beyond to help out those in need.
In this case, it’s hats off to a friendly
Cemex driver, who hopped out of his
cab to help a little old lady when he
spotted her struggling to cross the road.
Good work, sir!

Rain stops play

Those looking to browse among the lines
of vintage trucks at the Classic & Vintage
Commercials Show at the British Motor
Museum, Gaydon on June 8-9 were in for
a bit of a wet one – as our roving reporter
Pip found out. “Rain has certainly
stopped play today,” he posted. “I braved
the rain for a few pics, but sadly this has
been a bit of a washout! Let’s hope the
RTS in September is blessed with better
weather!” Fingers crossed...

Scania Driver Comp

driver-comp
Swedish truck-maker Scania has
just held the final of its Driver
Competition (see International
News, page 14), in which Europe’s
best drivers went head to head in
a wide range of tasks including
fuel-efficient driving, load
securing, reversing, rescue/first
aid and more. Footage from the
2019 event has been uploaded to
Youtube, so take a look and see
what’s involved. Reckon you have
what it takes to compete in next
year’s heats?
