In 2009, after leaving Little Artists, Buhle decided to expand his knowledge and
completed a two year printmaking course at The Artist Proof Studio. Thereafter
he entered as many competitions as he possibly could manage. These included
Black Like Us, Sasol New Signatures and Thami Mnyele to name a few.

He has exhibited as part of the Mall of Africa Autumn Art Collective hosted by
The Julie Miller Investment Art Institute; The Annual Rotary Art Festival and had
a regular spot at Artists Under the Sun at Zoo Lake, Johannesburg.

His paintings start off with the observation of people around him and the hustle
and bustle of the city: commuters on their way to and from work; mothers and
children hurrying to get home; loneliness and desperation, but also a sense of
excitement and anticipation for a happier future. “My inspiration comes from the
city and the people who live in it. I’ve spent so many years living in Johannesburg
(better known as the City of Gold), but I still enjoy witnessing the everyday buzz
that gets me fired-up. There is so much happening on the streets.”

His art is the story about his journey from KwaZulu Natal to Johannesburg; his
experiences; what life has taught him, and what he is looking forward to in the
future.
