Having studied Fine Art at UKZN,
Nicki began painting professionally in

  1. Drawing inspiration from daily
life, frequent travels to the Transkei,
    Mozambique and weekends spent
in the Midlands, Nicki uses her own
    photographs as references. She aims
to create paintings that will enhance
a living or working space, giving the viewer a feeling
of serenity and contentment. Her paintings are often
described as ‘peaceful’ and ‘easy to live with’.

ERIKA VAN ZYL: FRI 13 SEPT @11H00

Erika is an impressionist working
in oils, and her work reflects the
fascinating South African Landscape.
Still life and figurative paintings
form part of her repertoire. Colour,
composition and contrast between
lights and darks, play an integral
role in her paintings. Erika frequently
paints plein air as well as in studio. She loves to capture
feeling and vibrancy throughout. Her work can be seen
in galleries throughout South Africa.

DAVID JOHNSON: FRI 13 SEPT @12H30

David is capable of painting any
subject matter but his love for the
bushveld, wildlife and cattle have
become his specialty. Since 2007,
he has been commissioned to paint
the portrait of the winning bull of
the annual Performance Test Class
Competition, at the Huntex event. His
preferred mediums are soft pastels and oils, and he has
had numerous exhibitions throughout RSA, Namibia,
Botswana, Zambia and Germany.

DES FREEMAN: FRI 13 SEPT @14H00

In 2011 I started art classes with the
formidable John Smith and suddenly
the world around me started to explode
with vivid colours. The creativity that
had lain dormant in me for so many
years had been reborn. Every piece of
art I paint has a beginning, middle, and
an end. The end phase is normally the
sky; the stage at which my soul takes flight. For me,
painting the sky brings the creative experience – and
the artwork – to completion.

her introduction to a Chinese Master

now become her personal mentor and

took Bev’s interest was the Koi fish
and she is invited each year by the
Koi Society of SA to exhibit her work
at their national and international shows. Bev runs art
workshops every month.

BRENT DODD: SAT 14 SEPT @09H30

foundation from which he launched
his venture into the international art
world. Having exhibited in New York,
Las Vegas, Dallas, London and across the African
subcontinent, he enjoys a strict schedule of international
travel, building a footprint to satisfy his love of art.

BOB MCKENZIE: SAT 14 SEPT @12H30

My painting journey has occupied
most of my life. As a young boy I
was captivated by watching a master
at work , LB Elliott and at the age of
thirteen put brush to canvas for the
first time. I’ve had no formal training
but have had icons who have inspired
me, most notably Dino Paravano and
others. I run workshops around the country, having
hosted our 200th in April this year.

From realism to what could be
described as traditional, modern
impressionism - with an underlying
passion for colour and light. Shirley
attempts to paint energy, passion and
