After studying towards her BA Fine Art, Honours Degree and Higher

Education Diploma from The University of Natal, KZN-based artist

Lesley Ireland Mathew taught High School art for 16 years, before

becoming a full-time artist in 2013.

She is influenced by contemporary American Realist painters,

and occasionally travels to Durban to paint in Studio3, with Dee

Donaldson as her mentor. She also teaches painting in the village of

Mtunzini on a Monday.
