W&N ARTISAN WATER MIXABLE OIL

Having previously tried another brand of water mixable
oils, with poor results, I was skeptical about trying the
Artisan range. But my concerns were soon allayed when
I started using the paints: pigmentation was good, even
when mixed with standard oils, and the texture was really nice and creamy. But the
star of the show was definitely the medium that came with the set: Artisan Linseed
Oil. It was a pleasure to use, and created lovely flow. I also worked a bit with the paint
straight out of the tube, and it held its texture fantastically (see examples below). The
other advantage of using Artisan, is that there is no need to use harsh chemicals for
thinning or cleaning. Coverage was also good, which means the paints will go a long
way, so that’s another plus. Overall I am extremely impressed with this range.
