of encouragement, and visual information which must have been a
delight to receive. I still have mine from my youth and have since
bought some at local antique stores.


Postcard art in my life is inspired by artist, colleague and beloved
friend Lara Mellon, who initiated this postcard exchange between us
many years ago. It enabled our friendship to flourish, encouraged by
the recordings of synchronicity, connection and visual beauty. We are
never under any pressure to produce and certainly are not required to
stick to any formula or style of painting.


We personally deliver the card, and the subject, depending on how we
feel, can be simple or complex. Authentic mark-making becomes the
embracing essence. At times one word or colour takes one back into
a lingering theme or turns the page into a new chapter. Our current
exchange is named “Seasons”. It is when we show up to create, in the
spirit of play, that these postcards take on a life of their own.

James Blunt, in his song “Postcards”, captures the essence. I will end
with this:
“I’m sending postcards from my heart
With love for a postmark and then ...”
