  • deinitely an ingredient to avoid!”
Sarah also believes that just as
    consumers have become wiser about
the quality of food going into their
bodies, they’re now more aware of
what is being put on their bodies: “I
    passionately believe we should all
know exactly what we’re putting on
our skin. It’s why we provide a full
ingredient list on the front label
    across our skincare collection at
    By Sarah London.
    We only use all-natural and
    organic, plant-based ingredients.
    This total transparency is
empowering! It helps you lead a
more conscious life, safe in the
    knowledge that you’re only using
the inest ingredients from nature –

with absolutely nothing hidden,
synthetic or artiicial.”
The demand for natural
ingredients has also extended to
cleaning, too, with a profusion of
bloggers and inluencers extolling
the virtues of a greener home
environment. This includes Rebecca
Sullivan, an author and blogger
focusing on so-called ‘granny skills’
that are in danger of dying out:
“Wherever I go, I hear the same
thing – ‘I don’t have time to make
my own cleaning products’. I get it...
but have you ever thought about
your granny? Mine had ive kids
and three jobs, but she still made
everything from scratch – she didn’t
have a choice. She was super-poor
and therefore had to live frugally.
Making your own cleaning products
enables you to have control of the

chemicals in your home, plus it’s
kinder to the environment and
saves you money.”
However, it’s not always practical
to make every single cleaning
product yourself, as Rebecca
understands: “There are amazing
eco-alternatives out there now that
are also cost-efective, so these can
give you some peace of mind. Dr
Bronner’s is my all-time favourite
soap for my body and my dishes.
It’s a really ethical brand, and the
products are highly concentrated,
so you can use them mixed with
other cleaning items, or squeeze
them straight into the sink. Ecover is
another favourite – this plant-based
brand has products that feel good on
my skin and clean really well; the
dishwashing liquid actually foams,
which is a rarity with natural items!”
