your body. Consistency is the key to success when it comes to making a
diference; six-week blasts and quick ixes don't work long-term. If you
can train 3-4 times a week, for 45 minutes per session (for life), you are
not only going to see results, but keep them, too. Don't view doing more as
better – smashing out six gruelling workouts a week won't necessarily
get you better results. Over-training can slow down your progress as the
body doesn’t have suicient recovery time and can lead to fatigue. Plus,
if you're working out a lot, you can be lulled into a false sense that you
can eat whatever you want, too. Believe me when I say, you can never
out-train a bad diet.
What's the hot new workout I need to try?
From bungee yoga and SUP (stand up paddle) boarding, to hula hoop
classes; there is always something new and exciting to try, and I would
advise keeping things fresh. Some activities you will love and others you
won’t, but keeping your exercise varied will help with motivation.
I'd like to lose a few pounds – what's the best way to do this?
The key part to losing weight is re-assessing your diet. Make sure your
portion sizes are small, you are eating a variety of vegetables, and making
your meals at home (restaurant and ready-meals will usually contain more
fat, salt and calories). Plus, try to cut out any empty calories, like alcohol.
Don't starve yourself – if you go without food for too long your body will
start craving foods high in sugar and fat, and you're more likely to overeat.
As well as adjusting your diet, ramp up your exercise routine to ensure it's
really challenging you.
What's the secret to honing my body shape?
This is probably not what you want to hear, but there are no secrets! It is
the combination of many small things that are done consistently over
time. Your diet, itness levels, sleep patterns, daily choices and lifestyle
changes will have a bigger, long-term impact on your body and health.
