THE GREAT UNVEILING

Three new stunners revealed at the show
Another year, another truly outstanding
cluster of classic Fords built in secret and
finished in time for the 11 am reveal at the
show. Wearing fresh new covers courtesy of
show supporters, Hamilton Classic, the three
cars unveiled this year kept everyone
guessing until the last-minute, but once the
covers were off, there was no stopping the
crowds from getting up close.
Dave Caley’s 100E has been a six-year
labour of love and you could see the relief in
his face as the car was finally uncovered.
Period-perfect but running a Zetec on bike
carbs, it’s packed with clever details that keep

you coming back for another look. Meanwhile,
Jake Swann was flying the flag for Escorts and
2-litre BDG power thanks to his ex-Croatian
Mk2, with a flawless finish, sublime stance
and ultimate engine — put together by his
own fair hands. Then at the opposite end of the
scale we had Ben Gibbs’ Mk1 Fiesta with not
just a rear-drive conversion, but mid-mounted
ST170 turbo engine, too. Ben only managed
one run up the road prior to the Unveiling, but
pronounced the experience slightly insane.
We can’t wait to see it and the other two cars
in action — and in the feature cars pages of the
mag, too.

Jake Swann’s hardcore Escort runs a Sherwood BDG.
