Classic Ford – August 2019

(sharon) #1
he Retro Show is now an established
event on the Old Skool Ford Drag
Challenge (OSFDC) calendar and with
the prospect of competing against some rather
nice modified retro motors, 25 Old Skool Ford
competitors turned up to race. Round 2,
sponsored by Kejja Motorsport, got off to a
good start on the Saturday with the sun shining
but it soon turned to rain and that just about
summed up the whole weekend — in fact, I’m
sure I saw the strip marshalls building an Ark in
the pit garages at the end of the track!
Second placed (four-cylinder) Doorslammers
entrant Darren Scannell in his Cossie powered
Mk1 Escort was finding the cold track a little
squirmy, but managed to hold it together to run
an 11.36 quarter-mile. V8-powered 100E driver,
Sharon Carver was also finding the track a little
wavy but later found out that the locating pin on
the steering rack had come loose. A quick fix and
she was back out on track running a respectable
13.49 Elapsed Time (ET).

Back in the driving seat for the first time this
year was Crawley man, Karl Reardon in his
‘Murder E’ satin black 100E breaking into the 12s
and pushing him to a first place win. For the
second time this year media mogul, Kieran
Jenkins in his Crossflow Mk1 Fiesta grabbed
second place with a 13.91 ET. Third place went to
OSFDC regular Steve Jennerway running a
superb 11.7 quarter mile with his Pinto-powered
Mk2 Mexico.
No time for sleeping between rounds this time
as we are just two weeks away from round 3 —
The Fast Show Reloaded.
