New Cooking Classes at Secrets Cap Cana
A HIGHLIGHT of a stay at the new Secrets Cap Cana Resort & Spa in the Dominican
Republic is its upscale gourmet and regional cuisine. In addition to the 24-hour room
service, there are six bars and 10 restaurants to choose from, helmed by new Executive
Chef Ibai Torres, who hails from the Basque region of Spain. Must-try dishes include
sirloin with smoked iron foie gras at Bordeaux restaurant as well as several traditional
Dominican dishes such as sancocho, a hearty stew of root vegetables and meats, and
coconut shrimp in sweet tamarind sauce. For guests who want to up their cooking
game, there is the opportunity to participate in hands-on cooking classes and learn how
to make Dominican guacamole or fresh ceviche featuring local sea bass, chillo (similar to
red snapper) and tuna mixed with fixings such as diced Banilejo mango, red onion, corn,

ADLER Lodge Ritten to open in South
Tyrol SET ON THE SUNNY plateau of
Renon, overlooking some of the Dolomites’
most majestic mountain peaks, the new
ADLER Lodge Ritten resort will open in
June, 2019. Renon’s historic narrow-gauge
railway, the Rittnerbahn, stops just 200
metres from the hotel and the thriving city
of Bolzano is just a 12-minute ride away via
cable car. The lodge features a spacious
main building with reception area, lobby, bar,
restaurant and spa. Guest accommodations
include 20 junior suites as well as 20 one-
and two-storey chalets, some set around a
small natural lake. All rooms have private
bio saunas and either balconies or terraces,
and chalets have wood-burning fireplaces.
All meals, soft drinks, wines and spirits are
included in the room rate, with menus that
focus on regional and local products. The
spa faces the impressive Schlern peak and
offers incredible Dolomite views, through
large glass windows. Guests will be able to
choose among three saunas: one classic
steam sauna in the main building, as well
as two saunas located deep in the forest,
giving visitors a chance to truly immerse
