(Martin Jones) #1
THE ILLUSIONISTS
RUNNING UNTIL 1 SEPTEMBER AT
SHAFTESBURY THEATRE, LONDON
We weren’t sure what to expect from this extravaganza:
would it be too kid-focused? Would it be too showy? In
fact, it’s filled with thrills and is suitable for all ages. We
even spotted GMB’s Kate Garraway in the audience!
Seven magicians took to the stage, from Enzo Weyne, aka
The Unforgettable, who blew our minds with his illusions, to Paul
Dabek (The Trickster), who brought the lols with his comedy
magic. Add the stunts of escape artist Jonathan Goodwin (The
Daredevil) and the graceful deception of The Manipulator Yu
Ho-Jin and it’s a night of pure entertainment. Don’t miss it!

SOUTH WEST FOUR

FESTIVAL

SW4 returns to Clapham Common
for the 16th year running, promising
a weekend of dance classics,
club anthems and big drops!
As well as top talent on the
decks, artists such as Craig David,
Plan B and Tinie Tempah will be
taking to the stage across the
August bank holiday weekend.
And between acts, there are a
number of food stalls, bars and
even rides you can enjoy too.

Weekend tickets are sold out, but
you can buy tickets for Saturday
24 Aug and Sunday 25 Aug from
southwestfour.com

This gem, tucked away in a courtyard near London’s
Belgravia, prides itself on serving the city’s best cuts of
meat. Award-winning steaks are cooked in a special
charcoal oven and sourced from posh butcher Ginger Pig. We
enjoyed dry-aged 350g Rib Eye Steak (£28.50) and tender 250g
Fillet (£31), and indulged in several sides including truffle macaroni
cheese (£5). With lush, floral décor, gluten-free options, plus some
tasty starters, this venue has really raised the, erm, steaks!

MICHELLE KEEGAN
Abortions, fake marriages,
perjury, affairs, surrogacy
and her own murder – poor
Tina McIntyre was put through
the wringer during her six
years on the cobbles.
While Tina may have had
several failed relationships
on Corrie, in real life Michelle,
who played her from 2007 to
2014, has been much luckier
in love, marrying TOWIE star
Mark Wright in 2015.
Michelle’s career has also
soared since leaving the
Street, as she won the lead
role in BBC1 army drama Our
Girl and will soon be seen in
new Sky1 comedy Brassic.

JULIE GOODYEAR

No one could rock a beehive and
tons of bling quite like Rovers
Return landlady Bet Lynch, as
portrayed by soap stalwart Julie
Goodyear. The chain-smoking, no
nonsense blonde first appeared in
Weatherfield in 1966 before finally
becoming a fixture behind the bar
between 1970 and 1995.
Apart from a couple of brief
stints on Corrie in 2002 and
2003, Julie has mainly popped
up on reality shows, making
a memorable appearance on
Celebrity Big Brother in 2015.
In 2017, it was rumoured she
had pulled out of I’m A Celebrity
because she couldn’t smoke on
the 23-hour flight to Australia.
We bet she was fuming!
