f you’ve ever been forced to rise before
the sun – to catch a plane or on a yoga
retreat for example – you’ll know the
sense of stillness that’s in the air before
the world wakes. It’s an incredible feeling
that can make you wonder why you don’t do it
more often. One of the reasons it feels so good
at that time of day is due to negative ions. We
usually associate the term negative with bad,
but in this case, it’s good. Negative ions
naturally occur around waterfalls, rivers and
the ocean, and they’re more abundant in the
early hours of the day. So if you’re feeling like
you’ve been affected by the dark days of
winter, getting up earlier – ironically, in the
dark – actually might help.
