WATFORD are closing in
on a club-record deal for
Rennes winger Ismaila
Sarr.
The two clubs are
currently £5million apart
in their valuation, with
the French club wanting
£27m for the Senegalese
international. But Rennes
president Olivier Letang
admits they will struggle
to keep Sarr until the
transfer window shuts.
Letang said: “Only
Watford have shown a
real interest in the player.
We would be very hapy if
Isma stayed with us
another year, but it’s a
strong
possibility
he will go if
we receive
an offer we can’t refuse.”
Sarr, 21, would become
the most expensive
signing in Watford’s
history, eclipsing the
£18m paid for striker
Andre Gray two years
ago. And if Hornets boss
Javi Gracia can push
through a deal for Sarr
(above), Watford may
balance the books by
offloading winger
Roberto Pereyra, who
has been linked with
Atletico Madrid. Watford
would want £25m.
