ans of Gossip
Girl most likely
had a crush
on Upper East
Side bachelor Nate
Archibald, played by
Chace Crawford. OK!
certainly did, so when
we went to meet the
star at London’s Soho
Hotel we were more
than a little nervous.
Upon arrival,
a male journalist
emerged after his interview and
giddily told us: ‘I very nearly took my
wedding ring off. Good luck.’
As we enter the room, Chace
bounds towards us with smiles and
friendly handshakes. While the heart-
throb hair of his heyday has gone,
he’s lost none of his charm as he
enthusiastically tells us about his role
in superhero series The Boys.
Here, 33-year-old Chace tells
OK! about dating, the perils of
playing a superhero and the
possibility of a Gossip Girl reunion...

You experienced sudden fame with
Gossip Girl. How did you cope?
We were in our twenties in this big city
[New York], and so I dealt with it the
best I could. Nobody knows who they
are at that age, and I was trying to
figure it out, too. I have a great family
and friends who kept me grounded.

Do you keep in touch with anyone?
I made some of my best friends in
the world and we do keep in touch,
as much as we can when we’re all in
different places. I see Ed [Westwick]
when I’m in London, and I text Blake

[Lively]. She’s the best.
She’s so charismatic,
beautiful and strong.
I’ve met [her husband]
Ryan [Reynolds] too –
he’s such a great
guy. They have so
many kids!

Will there be a
Gossip Girl reunion?
I doubt it, but if it was
done the right way
I’d be open to it.

Do you ever find it frustrating still
being known as ‘Nate’?
I find it quite sweet when fans
come up to me, and I have a lot of
gratitude, but as an actor I do want to
break free of just being Nate. That’s
part of the reason I did The Boys.

Are you excited for people to see a
different side to you in The Boys?
Yes – it’s a dark comedy about the
superhero world and I play The
Deep. I was nervous about the
superhero suit and going to the
bathroom, but by the end I could get
it on and off in six minutes. It’s pretty
snug and warm, but it could have
been worse! I kind of miss it now.

Have you seen a change in the
industry since #MeToo?
Yes, in a good way. Everyone’s
more aware of how we’re treating
people. I’ve never had any negative
experiences, but things needed to
change and they are.

Are you enjoying LA life?
I love New York, but those winters
can be brutal! I cook and I have a
dog, I hit the golf course, dabble
with photography and hang out
with friends – I keep it tight-knit.
I’m boring!

Are you dating anyone?
I don’t like to talk about my private
life, but let’s just say I’m happy.
‘THE BOYS’ STARTS ON PRIME VIDEO FRIDAY JULY 26.
