WHATACTIVITIESARETHEREFORCHILDREN?
The Princesa Yaiza boasts the largest kids’ club – a 10,000 square
metres playground paradise with two pools, an amphitheatre for live
shows and a family restaurant – that OK! has ever seen! Kikoland is
divided into different areas offering a whole range of activities for
kids from four months up to 18. Featuring face painting and a soft
play area for little ones, to a climbing wall and a soccer school (run
by English former footballers) for older kids, all ages are catered
for. With the kids taken care of, parents can relax by one of the
outdoor pools or sign up for a treatment in the huge Thalasso Spa
with 50 treatment rooms and an amazing ‘1001 Nights’ pool that has
underwater music and a sparkly-lit ceiling.
WHATARETHEMUSTDOACTIVITIES?
Visit the César Manrique Foundation, the former studio-home-turned-
museum of the island’s famous artist and architect César Manrique,
in Taro de Tahiche. Built on lava fields with rooms built into huge lava
bubbles, the experience is unforgettable.
Another popular excursion is the Timanfaya National Park to
admire the spectacular volcanic landscape that featured in 2001:
Space Odyssey. OK!’s trip included lunch at El Diablo restaurant,
where our food was cooked on a grill fired by the geo-thermal heat
of the volcano.
Browse the stalls at the Marina Rubicon market near the lovely
Playa Blanca beach, which is backed by a seafront promenade lined
with restaurants. Or you can head to the charming town of Teguise
for arts, crafts and jewellery stalls. OK! picked up some cool black lava
beads, paint-dipped serving boards and a striking cactus illustration
before stopping off for some tapas at the rustic-chic La Cantina.
