‘I REALLY
WANTED THE
WEDDING
TO FEEL
INTIMATE
RATHER THAN
GRANDIOSE’

I put a lot of trust in her because I knew
she was amazing. We went for a lot of
greens, pastel pinks and whites – it was a
soft country meadow-y feel. And, because
we were married in the garden at my
parents’ house we had some of the garden
inside the marquee – an outside-inside feel.”

THE DRESS
“I found the whole dress process very
stressful. I actually think I went to every
bridal store in London; I
tried on hundreds of gowns
and watched a lot of Say Yes
To The Dress. I had this
idea that I’d try something
on and my sister and mum
would burst into tears. That
didn’t happen. Quite the
opposite. I found a lot of
the things that looked good
on me were too meringue-y.
I really wanted to wear a
simple, white, slip with a
vintage feel. That was my vibe, however, I kept
trying things on and everything looked like I
was in my pyjamas. Then I went to Temperley
London and the dresses were perfect – a
floaty, effortless feel, with invisible structure.”

bridal stores and I thought, ‘I’m not doing
this with the shoes’. I chose a really simple,
glittery, strap-up pair that have really
squidgy [soles]. I did change into a pair
of trainers around midnight though,
which gave me a second burst [of energy].”

HAIR AND MAKE-UP
“I kept my dress on all night. People asked
me if I had a change and
I was like, ‘I found it hard
to find one dress, I wasn’t
going back out to look for
a second!’ I did let my
hair down for the evening
though, as I wore it up for
the ceremony. My friend’s
wedding was a couple of
months before and she
had beautiful make-up,
done by a girl called Emily
McEwan. When I met her
I was instantly taken by her calming energy,
I knew she’d be amazing to have around
me on the day. So she did my favourite
glowy skin using Bobbi Brown products.”

BRIDESMAIDS
“I had five. My sister Lucie was my maid-of-
honour. I put them all in white, so it felt
less ‘stand-out’. They looked so stunning
