The girls describe their clothing style as,

“vintage, colourful and simple”, but less

straightforwardly have coined a whole new

genre (confetti) to define their music,

which is a combination of soul, funk and

R‘n’B. As well as many music events around

New York, St Beauty recently started taking

their vintage clothes (inspired by Audrey

Hepburn, Diana Ross and Solange), quirky

accessories (teeny-tiny handbags) and (big

hair, don’t care) attitude to fashion shows,

including the SS19 3.1 Phillip Lim fashion

showat NewYork FashionWeek.

The BFFs from Atlanta have been

signed to Janelle Monáe’s record

label and are rocking the FROW

Scene Stealer...

Retro duo Isis Valentino and Alex Belle are

known collectively as St Beauty. The Atlanta

natives met as teens in 2012 – bonding

over a love of vintage shopping and Frank

Ocean, which they constantly played whilst

working in vintage store Poor Little Rich

Girl. It was when Alex needed guitar to

accompany her lyrics and Isis offered her

services that their mutual appreciation of

the 60s and 70s promptly included music

as well as fashion. St Beauty began hosting

artists’ showcases in the store’s basement

and one of their performances caught the

ear of Janelle Monáe, who signed them
