ECO DENIM

A pair of jeans can take up to 7,000 litres of
water to produce, so it’s good news for the
planet that brands are now using innovative
approaches to combat waste and pollution...

BOYISH

Designed in LA, Boyish
uses ethical and sustainable
practices when developing
and manufacturing its
product – such as recycling
the water used to make the
denim. The jeans are made
with sustainable fabrics and
their motto is that the only
impact they’ll leave on
the planet is good jeans.

KSENIA
SCHNAIDER

With fans including Dua Lipa,
Adwoa Aboah and Bella
Hadid, Ksenia Schnaider
is committed to helping the
environment. By re-using and
recycling, last year alone the
brand created 3,000 new
styles from vintage jeans. Their
SS19 offering uses denim
from the only denim mill in the
world that’s been awarded the
prestigious EU Ecolabel.

DL1961

This New York-based brand’s
focus has been to create
sustainable denim since
day one. Now a global
leader in denim innovation,
each step in the supply chain
is optimised to create the
best possible product,
whilst saving a significant
amount of water, energy
and dye. The process uses a
trademarked material, Refibra,
which is made from renewable
wood sources and upcycled
cotton scraps that would
otherwise end up in landfill.

ASOS
DESIGN

As of January this year
100 per cent of Asos
Design’s cotton-based jeans
are now made from
sustainable cotton. The
bleached denim, balloon
sleeves and cuffed hem
details make this collection
look super premium,
while still maintaining that
purse-friendly price point
we all know and love.

ONE TEASPOON

The Australian brand has
launched its Raw denim
collection, which uses 70
per cent less water than a
standard denim wash. As
well as watching water
consumption the line is made
with organic BCI cotton – an
organisation initiated to make
global cotton production better
for the environment and the
people who produce it.
