SCENT
OF LOVE

Diptyque’s limited-edition
rose candles, £53 each,
will still be burning
brightly by the time
your Valentine’s Day
stems starts to drop.
Damask (right) is dark
and sensual and Centifolia
is fresh like an English
garden in bloom. And
does anyone else upcycle
their candle cups? We use
ours to stash cotton buds
and make-up brushes.

ACID REIGN

Most dermatologists say,
when formulated in the right
way, exfoliating acids are
kinder to skin than gritty
scrubs. Case in point,
Ole Henriksen’s Transform
Plus Glow Cycle Retin-Alt
Serum [3], £50. It contains
bakuchiol – a gentle, plant-
based alternative to retinol
that dissolves the ‘glue’
that holds dead skin cells
together. We also love the
brightening blue booster
that comes with Clinique’s
iD Dramatically Different
Moisturizer + Active
Cartridge Concentrate [2],
£36. And if you’re up for
a more militant approach,
Elizabeth Arden’s Prevage
Progressive Renewal
Treatment [1], £180, is
a transformative four-week
regime for sensitive skin.

TOUCH BASE

Looking for a long-lasting
foundation? Guerlain’s
L’Essentiel Natural Glow
Foundation [3], £44, is
featherlight – but it clings
to skin and is incredibly
forgiving. Diorskin Forever
Glow [1], £35, is also
on the sheer side but it
forms a sort of second skin
to smooth and even out
your complexion. You’ll
forget you’re wearing
it. Plus, it comes in an
impressive 67 shades.
And Giorgio Armani’s new
Power Fabric Longwear
Highcover Concealer
[2], £32, is so blendable
you can use it on huge
swathes of skin to cover
up shadows, blemishes
and redness.

Q&A WITH
NURSE JAMIE

Emily Ratajkowski, Jessica
Alba and the Kardashians
are die-hard fans of skin
expert and registered
nurse Jamie Sherrill. Here,
she shares her bag of
skincare tricks.

What’s the most common
skincare mistake you
come across?
Over-exfoliating. And,
incidentally, over-tattooed
eyebrows make me nuts.
Tell us about your
favourite skincare
ingredient...
Prickly pear contains
vitamins E and K and a
good amount of fatty acids

  • making it the perfect
    ingredient to prevent the
    formation of wrinkles and
    restore skin’s elasticity. It
    helps to brighten dark spots
    and under-eye circles,
    and also protects skin
    from free radical damage.
    How do you hone your
    clients’ skincare regimes?
I think at-home tools are the
    future. Massage your skin
    with my NuVibe RX, £75,
    to ensure your products
    absorb properly and do
    their job. It uses sonic
    vibrations to increase
    circulation and temporarily
    soften fine lines.
    What’s your pre-awards
    season advice?
    Red carpet looks are the
    result of well-laid plans. I
    recommend that my clients
    sleep on my U-shaped
    Beauty Bear Pillow, £64

  • it cradles your face and
    neck to prevent skin
    creasing. Use the Uplift
    Roller, £55, to tone skin
    and release muscle tension.
    Which of your celebrity
    clients have the best
    regimes?
    Lea Michele is a super
    regimented person – I
    really admire that! Khloé
    Kardashian’s skincare
    routine is alsoon point.
    And her exercise regime is
    super intense, too.
