W
hen OK! speaks
to Tess Daly,
it’s bright and
early on a sunny
Saturday morning and she’s
off to Ascot racecourse. Full
of excitement for the day
ahead, the Strictly Come
Dancing presenter beams
about her passion for horses
- something she shares with
her two daughters, Phoebe,
15 and ten-year-old Amber.
‘We are all very close,’
she says. ‘I love being a
mum, it’s my greatest and
proudest role to date.’ The
50-year-old former model
shares her daughters with
her husband of 16 years,
Vernon Kay.
An excitable Tess is quick
to tell us how much she’s
looking forward to co-
presenting the 17th series
of Strictly Come Dancing
with one of her closest
friends, Claudia Winkleman.
‘It’s a real pleasure being
able to work with someone
who is genuinely your
mate because it makes it
effortless,’ she tells us. ‘I’m
always happier when she
walks in the room.’
Here, Tess opens up to
OK! about being a mother in
the media, running a feminist
household and the secret to
her happy marriage...
Are you excited about
the new series of Strictly
Come Dancing?
I can’t wait. I’m hearing it’s
a really great line-up this
year. I know a few of the
names already and they
are excellent!
Rumour has it Harry Judd
is replacing Darcey Bussell
on the judging panel...
Hers are big boots to fill!
I absolutely love Darcey,
but it will be interesting
to have a new face on the
judging panel. The decision
is imminent, I spoke to my
producer and she said that
an announcement will be
made very shortly. I know
who I’ve got my eye on,
so fingers crossed. I love
Harry! I am a big fan of
his, and he was a brilliant
former champion – and
very easy on the eye – so it
wouldn’t be a bad choice
would it [laughs]!
