Scale Military Modeller International – August 2019

(coco) #1

For the helmet I used Hataka Dark
Green. The belt and ammunition
pouches were painted with a
mix of Vallejo Saddle Brown and
Leather Brown. For the boots I again
used Leather Brown and German
Camoulage Black Brown. His bread
bag and gas mask bag were painted
with Lifecolor Green (UA006) and
for his canteen Violet Brown was
used. These parts then received a
similar treatment to add shadows
and highlights. With all parts painted
assembly was the next step. The

helmet, head, arms, hands,
backpack and bags itted perfectly
with only a minimal seam between
the torso and arms. This I illed that
with dilluted white glue and then
painted it with the paint mixes I used
for the shadows on the uniform. I had
a few it issues with the ammunition
pouches as I think they could have
sat a little better on the belt. The
bayonet was built from two parts
and added to the rile. At this point
I lost the etched fret, so added the
rile’s sling and loops using thin brass
wire and masking tape. I then added
some pigments to the boots
to make them look a little
more realistic and then
pinned the feet to a small
wooden base to complete
the project.
