Model Aircraft – August 2019

(avery) #1
painting and weathering the interior with a
brown wash on the seats and dusty pigment on
the loor, I ixed fuselage together. Everything
itted very well with no iller needed at all.
Next, I assembled wings and ixed them to the
fuselage, again with no iller was needed. I then
used Montex Masks on the clear parts and ixed
them with Revell Contacta Clear. For priming
kits, I use either Bartsharp 133 or 183. The 133 is
a syphon fed 0.3mm airbrush and comes with a
large size jar for that can hold and store plenty
of paint, which is great for large projects like this
one. The Bartsharp 183 comes with a 0.5 nozzle
and can be used to produce a great all-around
spray. This is great for priming and base coating,
but still detailing can be achieved. It also comes

with three interchangeable paint cups, these
being 2cc, 5cc and 13cc. I highly recommend
this product to everyone who would like to
start their airbrushing journey. For just £33.99
including UK delivery it’s a real bargain.
After priming I started painting the
camoulage pattern with Hataka RLM71 Dark
Green and once dry I masked camoulaged
areas with Tamiya tape and started to work with
Hataka RLM70 Black Green. For the underside
and under wings I used Hataka RLM65 Light
Blue, and on lower parts of engine covers I
used Hataka C107 Signal Yellow. Once dry I
sealed everything in with a coat of Hataka XP09
Gloss clear. Now the tricky part began as ixing
decals on such a surface was not an easy task

and would not be achieved without plenty of
Micro Sol solution. Before I started weathering,
I sealed the decals in with two coats of Gloss.
I then weathered the model using oil paints
for the engine smoke stains and various
dust pigments on the wheels. I then sealed
everything in with a coat of Hataka X07 Matt.
The I removed the masks and added some
Ammo by MIG .02mm Rigging Line for antenna
wire.
