Price Guide: £24.Now that the new-tool Eduard 1:48 Tempest Mk.V kit is irmly established within the market place, Eduard have seen it to bring us a raft of
accessories for the base kit, the largest of these being the engine. The Napier Sabre is nothing short of a brute of an engine with 24 cylinders in a H
coniguration, all producing 2,400 horsepower - a phenomenal engine!
Nicely packaged in BRASSIN’S now familiar cardboard box you will ind no less than 81 parts cast in resin and a further 7 in the form of photo-etch.
To guide you through the construction process there are 5 sheets of A4, with assembly instructions printed on both sides. It truly is a complete kit
within its own right.
To describe this upgrade set as just an engine, is to sell it short as it contains not just a highly detailed rendition of the Napier Sabre IIB, but also
radiator, engine bearers, irewall, engine ancillaries, piping and a complete set of cowlings, all allowing you to create a highly detailed diorama,
should that be your goal.
The resin castings are as we have come to expect from Eduard, intricate, detailed and free from any form of blemishes. The surface detail exhibited
on the cowlings is especially worthy of note, mimicking as they do, the ine surface details of the plastic parts supplied in the base kit. It would be
remiss of me not to also mention the sublime internal details also, which are just as delicate.
But let’s also not be coy about who this type of upgrade is aimed at: the experienced modeller. A fair amount of precise cutting is going to be
required on the base kit, in order to it it, a lot of test-itting after that to ensure an accurate it, all coupled with some detailed and precise painting to
