PANAVIA TORNADO GR.4/4A (SHEET NO. ED-72117)
This month we have a welcome version of an earlier Tornado
set from Euro Decals, now in 1:72 scale. Three are spectacular
anniversary schemes and the other two are in near standard
squadron markings. Here is a list of those fi ve Tornados. For
those who missed them, the same schemes are also available
in 1:48.

● Tornado GR.4 ZA461 with No. XV(R) Squadron at RAF
Lossiemouth in 2015. The scheme commemorates the
squadron’s 100th anniversary. An overall Medium Sea Grey

Tornado has a mainly Cherry Red tail fi n with a large squadron
badge featuring a winged hind’s head.
● Tornado GR.4A ZA405 with No. 12 Squadron at RAF
Lossiemouth in November 2015. This scheme also celebrates
the 100th anniversary of the unit. The tail fi n has three wide
bands, Black, White and Green with the unit’s fox’s head applied.
● Tornado GR.4 ZA542 ‘021’ with No. 31 Squadron when
engaged in Operation Ellamy in Italy in 2011. This aircraft is
in a standard scheme with the unit’s badge on the tail fi n and
checker pattern on the nose.

● Tornado GR.4 ZA560 ‘EB-Q’ with No. 41(R) Squadron at RAF
Coningsby in 2017. This Tornado carries more muted 100th
anniversary markings, on the standard scheme.
● Tornado GR.4 ZA412 with No. 617 Squadron at RAF
Lossiemouth 2013/14. This spectacular Dambusters scheme
celebrated the 70th anniversary of 617 Squadron and the
famous raid on the German dams in 1943. The tail fi n was
painted Black with a bursting dams design, etc. on both sides.
Thanks again to Euro Decals for supplying their latest release
for review. (Alan Firbank)
