FINAL THOUGHTS

s this issue was being completed, MAI author Mike
Williams discussed on Facebook aircraft that he had never
modelled, despite those machines being perhaps personal
favourites. Having given some thought to his discussion,
it occurred to me that I had been extremely guilty over
the years of never having built many aircraft that I love (often at the
expense of professional jobs covering subjects that I have little or no
interest in!) and thus my collection is rather short of my own favourite
aircraft - with the obvious exception of the Harrier, Mustang and Spitfi re!
So with that in mind, here is a list of aircraft – a number of which are
easily in my top ten of all time, if not the top fi ve – that I have NEVER
built a model of. The list is in no particular order, being penned as the
aircraft came to mind...■ B-24 Liberator - any and all versions...
■ B-26 Marauder
■ SEPECAT Jaguar (second only to the Harrier as my favourite RAF jet...)
■ SAAB Viggen
■ F-105 Thunderchief - especially the F-105G Wild Weasel
■ Avro Lancaster
■ Hellcat - soon to be dealt with!
■ C-130 Hercules - RAF C-130K
■ C-47 Dakota
■ B-58 Hustler
■ F-111 Aardvark
■ P-3 Orion - Japanese colours...How can I have so many favourites and have never built any of
them?! So my plan over the next 12 months is to begin to build them
all, beginning with the Hellcat. I may not complete the entire set, but I’m
going to give it a good go and fi nally replicate those aircraft that I love
so much.
